i had a dream about you.

Another southern transplant to NYC, studying film and what it means to live. All the pictures and writings are mine unless I say so.

It seems all too easy these days to discover that someone has decided to remove you from their life.

Doesn’t get you any closer to understanding why, though.

Let me rant for a minute about how distasteful I find this post to be. First, while I am in no way a fan of Snooki or anything Jersey Shore-related, I believe it is a disservice to modern women to imply that she is representative of them. “Snooki” is not even representative of herself, edited as her on-screen image is for the maximum shock effect that translates into viewers. To say that all women everywhere, or even most women most places, are loud and drunk and wear revealing clothing is just not true. Second, this juxtaposition seems to imply that women are more desirable when they are meek, slim and smiling (also untrue), like the image of Audrey so many people seem to latch onto, and that’s such a tiny box to try to shove half of the world’s population into. We are just not going to fit, don’t even try to make us. I think the fine print here is, “why don’t women act like ladies anymore?” But we are ladies, just by the nature of being women, and we ladies are going to act however the hell we want.

*I am not necessarily advocating being constantly drunk though, I hear it’s bad for your liver. But you know, do your thing.

Rusticity

wood floors

piles of blankets

dried pine needles on the ground

brown, green, purple, mustard yellow

pickup trucks

bare feet

warmth of the sun on a rock

a hairy dog

boots, socks, sweaters, scarves

someone to keep you warm.
